The Harvey Family at Home

I met Jennifer through the Influence Network going on two years ago, and I was thrilled when she reached out to me to photograph her family in June. She has two girls that are a little older than what I normally photograph, but I was so excited about it. I think these sessions are really great for whatever season you are in or what age your kids are...new babies, small toddlers, school aged kids, and even middle schoolers and high schoolers...it all works! Jennifer is also a talented interior designer, and you can check out her website here

The Harvey's spent their time together while I was there doing some of their favorite things: eating appetizers for supper, playing board games, eating ice cream, and hanging out in their living room on a rainy summer evening. It was wonderful.

October Goals

I know we have already talked about how much I love fall (it is truly my favorite), and also how much fall can be overwhelming for photographers. It is THE season to have your photos taken. My weekends are almost completely booked now through Christmas (so if you are thinking about booking something for Christmas, now is definitely the time to get in touch!), and I am so thankful, but I also know that means I have to be extra intentional about every other part of my life. So, in October, I am keeping the goals simple, small, and...intentional.

MONTHLY GOALS:

  1. go on a date
  2. schedule sitters through November (we have never had to hire sitters, but this time it is looking like we are going to have to)
  3. plan our family photo session
  4. take Max to the Ghost Train at Tweetsie
  5. white wash the brick (yeah, this one doesn't fit the bill of "simple"...but in the busy months, I need a project outside of photography. And yes, I know that doesn't make a lot of sense)
  6. finish booking through December 2017

WEEKLY GOALS:

  1. social media free weekends
  2. schedule intentional rest times
  3. plan clothes and meals for the week on Sunday evenings
  4. deliver sessions within one week (helping me stay on top of work with early deliveries!)
  5. do something fun with the boys

DAILY GOALS:

  1. get up at 5:00am, read Bible and pray
  2. no phone 4-8pm (if I am honest this one is probably the hardest)
  3. take a photo a day
  4. make the beds
  5. listen to a podcast and tidy up
  6. real life Bible stuff with the boys (this basically means applying the Bible with them each day in real life circumstances. We will all learn from this!)

I am so excited to see what fruit comes from this month!

Our Atlantic Beach Trip

This year, we got to go to the beach an unheard of 3 times, and it was pretty amazing. We hadn't been to the beach in two years, so going even once would have felt like a treat. We had no plans to go to the beach at all this year, but things just fell into place, and we loved every minute.

Our last trip was to Atlantic Beach, NC, which is the sweetest little town in the Southern Outer Banks. It is quiet, but still has good restaurants and all sorts of things that we love. We have been going there since I was a kid, and we still go eat at the same places (Roma Pizza, Clawson's in Beaufort, the best Chinese take out, and of course, Dairy Queen for ice cream). We spent mornings on the deck with coffee and Bibles and dinosaurs, and the rest of the day doing all the fun things...going to the aquarium, the pool (the beach was a little too rough when we were there), the maritime museum, and Fort Macon. It's just a quick drive to the dockside town of Beaufort, and we have a tendency to drive there several evenings while we are in town because it is just so pretty.

We came back refreshed and ready to start fall with school starting a few days later. It was exactly what I didn't know we needed.
