This past year has been challenging but so rewarding. Our lives went on a bit of a roller coaster with moving towns and jobs and houses. So many changes...big changes. But we made it. I don't want to say it yet, but it sort of feels like we may be in the clear now. I have never admired your strength more, and I am so incredibly proud of the man you are...providing for our family, being the best daddy, and helping our marriage to absolutely thrive. I am confident that the decisions we made for our family this year were the best ones, and the best part is that we made those decisions together.
You and me. We get to do it all together. I love that. I love that I get to be your wife for the rest of our lives. The consistency of that makes me happy, I am sure you know. I like to have a plan, so it drives me crazy sometimes that you fly by the seat of your pants. But I promise this year to be thankful for the fact that you have given me a plan when it comes to the most important things...like that you will always love me, you will always be my husband. And I promise to be thankful that your "fly by the seat of your pants" ways make me more adventurous, and more relaxed.
Today, you snuck out to buy me anniversary surprises, ones that probably seem odd to other people. But they were gifts that showed me that you listen when I talk, and that I love. You even brought flowers home. We drove to Hickory and you held my hand. We ate wings, talked, and then you got me a cheap McDonald's ice cream cone...my favorite, just like always. It was probably unconventional for an anniversary date, but it was absolutely perfect. We talked a lot, listened to our favorite old country songs, laughed a ton, and had a great time. It felt just like when we were dating...with different subject matter for the conversations. I love how everything has changed but at the same time nothing has changed.
This next year...I am excited to date you and laugh with you. I am excited to learn more about being your wife and get to know you even better if that is possible. I can't wait to play outside all summer with the boys, show them what Fall is like in the foothills, eat lots of delicious food, make our house even more like home, love the small stuff, go on some adventures, and teach our boys more about being good men. I am sure we will do all the things I have planned on the list, but I also can't wait to see what else you will have us doing on a whim.
Being your wife is the best thing. Thank you for being the best husband.
I love you, forever and always.
