Ya'll, I totally failed at my goals for May. Well, maybe not totally. But mostly.
I went on a date with my husband, blogged more, used my camera to photograph our lives more, cleaned out my closet (a little bit), and I have invested time in the Transformed series that our church is doing. I made time most days for just me and God, and I got red Saltwater sandals. Luckily for me, there is grace even in that un-done to do list I made with excitement and motivation. And I did lots of things that weren't on my to-do list!
In May, I learned about the importance of a short to-do list for me. For some people, long lists work. They check them off and get it all done. For me...long lists are overwhelming, and then I get frustrated when I inevitably don't complete every item. Instead, I have started making a short list of things I need to get done every morning, four to five specific items, then I simply add to it when I complete those items. It has seriously, seriously been life changing.
So I have decided to take the same approach for my monthly goals. I am keeping it simple, but specific. Only a few things. Things that I can surely accomplish.
- Read "The Happiness Project"
- Cook dinner in a timely manner most nights.
- Go on a date with my husband
- Save money.
- Do yard work.
- Journal and blog.
- Speak more joy, life and encouragement. Speak less negativity, discouragement, gossip and... anything bad.
- Take photos of someone outside of our family.
- Make time for prayer, worship, and study every single day.
I feel like June is going to be pretty wonderful for us! I always love it when a new month, season or year starts. It feels like a fresh start, and I love the grace that is paired with that.
