Today is my brother and sister in-law's second anniversary.
I know. That probably doesn't mean much to the average sister of the groom. But to me, it marks the anniversary of the day I got a new sister, the anniversary of one of my favorite days.
Chelsea asked me to be her matron of honor, and I got to help her plan a lot of wedding things. I loved shopping for her dress and chatting about decorations and food. I loved throwing the wedding shower and staying up all night decorating their venue. Nothing could have prepared me for the emotions that I experienced that day, though, not all the planning in the world. It was the hottest day of the year and the wedding was outdoors, but it was the most perfect day. I watched my little brother begin a beautiful marriage, promising his life and love, his all, while I stood next to his new wife, and I will absolutely never forget it.
They set such a beautiful example of marriage, and it is such a great adventure for them...which is the quality of their life that I admire the most. They are dreamers and believers, and the love they have for each other is undeniable.
Two years ago I got a new sister. One that encourages me and loves me despite my flaws, shares my heart in so many things, and makes me laugh on a daily basis. Things that most sisters do, but maybe not most sister-in-laws. Chelsea chooses to be my "real" sister, and I am so thankful for that. I am so very thankful for her.
Happy anniversary, Tucker and Chelsea! Love you both, to the moon and back.
